Inter-American Press Association Scholarships

Latin American and Caribbean scholars spend one year at a U.S or Canadian journalism school and U.S. or Canadian scholars spend a year studying and reporting in Latin America and the Caribbean. Washington Post High School Writing Seminar and Scholarship Program

Jack R. Howard Fellowships in International Journalism

Databazaar Scholarship Fund

A $2,500 travel fund will be awarded to an American college student studying photography, photojournalism, broadcast journalism or film-making, who wishes to travel to South Asia on a visual project. An identical award is also available for a student from South Asia who wants to do a project in the U.S. Deadline: March.

Alexia Foundation Photojournalism Scholarships

Associated Press Sports Editors Scholarship

APSE, a national organization of sports editors, is sponsoring four $1,500 scholarships. College students entering their sophomore, junior or senior years are eligible for the scholarship, which will awarded based on the students' journalistic work, their academic record, financial need, and geography. The scholarships will be awarded to students from four different regions of the United States. Deadline: June 1.

Center for Public Integrity Fellowship

Fellows enroll as full-time students at American University's School of Communication in Washington, D.C., earning a master's degree in journalism, while pursuing investigative projects at the Center for 12 to 20 hours each week. The fellowship provides a full tuition scholarship plus a stipend of $24,000. Candidates must have at least four full years of professional experience. Deadline: March 15.

City University London Scholarships

Guardian Media Group, British Broadcasting Corporation, Channel 4 and many other organizations sponsor a variety of scholarships for students pursuing a master’s degree in journalism at City University. Both UK and non-U.K. students are eligible.

Columbia University Journalism School Fellowships

Columbia University in New York offers several scholarships for international students that cover up to full-tuition. For example, Jack R. Howard Fellowships in International Journalism cover full tuition and living expenses for two international journalists from developing or transitional countries. To qualify for the fellowship candidates must reside outside the United States and intend to return to their homeland after graduation.

Luke 1:3 Journalism Scholarship

Patrick Henry College, a Christian college in Virginia, is offering a four-year, full-tuition scholarship for an applicant who plans to study journalism. Deadline: February 1.

Orerbro University Global Journalism Scholarship

Orerbro, a university in Sweden, offers an all-expenses paid scholarship for its 2-year master's degree program in global journalism. Travel, accommodation, insurance and other living expenses are also covered. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree, two years experience as a journalist and know English. Deadline: February 1.

Russell-Rice TRA Sports Writing Scholarship

Four-year, $40,000 scholarship to Vanderbilt University is awarded to a high school senior with special interest and potential in the field of sports writing.

Fred Rogers Memorial Scholarships

Three $10,000 scholarships to "support and encourage aspiring undergraduate and graduate students to pursue careers in children's media." In addition to the monetary award, successful applicants are mentored by children's programming professionals during the academic year. Deadline: late February.

Medill - Knight Foundation Scholarships

Full scholarships to Medill's master's program in journalism for people with computer programming skills. No journalism experience necessary. Deadline: varies.

Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship

New York Women in Communication Inc. Foundation Scholarships
